7 Days of Intentional Motherhood™ · Day 2 · Connection

The Day You Make Something

Your hands working together is a love language.

💬Today's Phrase — save this somewhere you'll actually see it
"Connection doesn't need to be a big moment. It lives in the ordinary ones."

Write it on a sticky note. Set it as your phone wallpaper. Let it follow you through the day.

🤲Today's Recipe · Calm-Down Sensory Dough

Today you're going to make something with your child. Not to teach them. Not to keep them busy. Just to be side by side, hands in something warm together. The making is the connection.

Make this together today. Once it's done, it becomes a regulation tool for the whole week — your child's body will remember the calm they felt making it, every single time they use it.

Day 2 — The Day You Make Something

Take it one step at a time. There's no rush.

🧺You'll need
2 cups plain flour
½ cup fine salt
2 tbsp cream of tartar
2 tbsp coconut oil or vegetable oil
1½ cups boiling water — you handle this part
A few drops of lavender essential oil (optional — deeply calming)
Food colouring — let your child choose the colour
📋Step by step
1.
Your child pours and stirs all dry ingredients into the bowl. Let the mess happen — this is the point.
2.
Add oil and food colouring to the boiling water, then slowly pour it in. You handle this step.
3.
Stir together until it becomes dough. Let it cool, then knead together on the table.
4.
If using lavender oil, add it now. Take a slow breath together over the bowl. Name what you smell.
5.
Play freely for 10 minutes. No agenda. Just hands in dough, side by side.
6.
Store in an airtight container. Use it in your calm corner later this week.
🪷Tonight's Reflection — sit with these at the end of the day

What was the energy in the room while you made it together?

When did you notice your own body relax? What made that happen?

What did your child say or do that you want to remember from today?
